Farm Meadow

Farm Meadow

Take a walk with me through Farm Meadow.

I have enjoyed watching cows graze and white-tale deer feed in this beautiful meadow. On a weekend drive to our mountain cabin, we saw the field had been mowed and fresh bales of hay. Melia my soul mate and I stopped and walked with camera in hand in to the field. We felt the suns warmth on our skin as it journeyed westward. Smelling fresh cut hay and feeling the stubble crush beneath our feet as we walked. The sun beamed low across the field leaving half shadows on the trees and long shadows across the field. The lavender blue purple mountains seemed to glow with the suns warmth. Tractor tires left curving impressions around the field. The farm meadows beauty stunned me.

Please spend time wandering around in this painting and I hope you find as much joy in this Farm Meadow as I have.

Natures Way

Natures Way

I saw a tiny yellow crab spider, sitting on a red rose bud.

Looking through the camera lens I saw a tiny yellow crab spider, sitting on a red rose bud. When the picture came back from the developer the leaves had blurred away. I used a technique of glazing to develop the background of transparent leaves one on top of the other. For added drama the sun glanced across the rose and spider turning the reflected light orange on the yellow spider. The use of deep purples in the shading of the rose leaves complemented the bold use of orange. The use of different bold shades of reds, oranges, pinks and burgundy with a wet on wet technique developed the rose. The use of orange in the curling rose leaves added unity to the painting.

Melia my soul mate, asked why I called the painting Natures Way? In response I said nature provides us with great beauty and sometimes through, in a surprise.
